The Consumer Price Index measures the change in prices from the point of view of the consumer
It is a primary means of measuring changes in purchasing trends and inflation rates in the Eurozone

The annual inflation rate in the eurozone was confirmed at a record high of 8.1% in May of 2022, above 7.4% in each of the previous two months and four times higher than the previous year. There was a widespread increase in prices, with energy (39.1%), food, alcohol and tobacco (7.5%), services (3.5%) and non-energy industrial goods (4.2%) being the biggest upward pressure. Eurozone inflation remains well above the ECB's 2% target and the central bank will start raising borrowing costs from July to bring them back to the target.
